What is wealth? Does it consist in having and clutching or in growing and giving?
I chose to render the rich fool as a tree of ugly contradiction, a snarl of barbed wire and thorns that keeps anyone else away from his branches’ large, ripe fruit. The rich fool’s life is producing sustenance and wealth, and yet he is choking that same fruit to rot by cutting others off from all he has to give.
Wealth is meant to be shared, and greed keeps us from the life to be found in loving one another.
